Amtrack to Minnesota

I set out for Minnesota on an Amtrack train to visit Ben.

The train was pretty comfortable, and I had lots of snacks, but it was a pretty long trip. It would have been a lot more fun with a traveling companion, but I enjoyed it just the same.

I arrived in Chicago Union Station, and boarded the train for the next leg of the trip

Leaving Chicago...

I arrived in St Paul, Minnesota in the evening. When I stepped off the train on to the outdoor platform, it was  incredibly cold; it was the first time I had ever felt like I was truly in danger just from the air temperature. The wind didn’t help either.

I ended up waiting for quite awhile at the station, and managed to get a drink at the smoothie bar just before it closed.

Eventually Ben picked me up, and we found a hotel for the night.
