In the morning, I met up with Jackson at Bath nature Preserve to try and catch the first sunrise of the year.

The park ended up having a perfect view of the sunrise, and when I arrived there was a small window in the clouds to see the Civil twilight while I waited for Jackson to arrive.

One of the installations at the park was a "solar system walk", which had signs for the planets placed at scale distance along the path, such that every step is equal to one million miles in space.

There was a group of deer wandering through the park when I arrived, I managed to snap a picture of one while they left.

The planet signs had funny illustrations for the planets. Also, by this point, the overcast sky had fully set in, and we just went for a normal hike.

After we managed to unlost ourselves and made our way back to the parking lot, we decided to get some breakfast at First Watch in Fairlawn.

Smoked Salmon Frittata
Gingerbread Donut Holes

After breakfast, we headed to Jackson's house to add a boot drive to my repurposed server computer that I acquired from work. We were able to install Linux Mint on it fairly easily. I plan to someday use it to host my blog, but for now it's just a machine to mess around with as a learning exercise.

Afterward, Jackson wanted someone to be there while he played Silent Hill, so we spent the rest of the afternoon taking turns playing, and eating snacks.
