I went to the tall ships festival with Jackson.
the ships sure were tall. Jackson originally though I was making a joke when I mentioned it.

For lunch, we had some Middle eastern Sambouse. Very tasty.

We walked on the first set of boats. Very cool.

The line for the Spanish one and the coast guard boat were really long, so we decided to take a break and check back later.
On the site, it said the USS Cod was available to tour as well, so we went on an adventure to find it. We were told that it was on the other side of the park, but we were unable to locate it. After looking it up, I was reminded that it is actually a submarine, and we had a good time joking about how it could be hiding literally anywhere.

After failing to locate the submarine, we took a break from the sun and went to the science center. There was a lot of NASA outreach events going on.

We got tickets to the main science room, and explored the various science experiments. They were mostly aimed at children, and Jackson was feeling a little embarrassed he had hyped it up so much, but we were both able to embrace our inner child and had a good time randomly bashing science stuff together.
After finishing up at the science center, we toured the long boat, which was an old steam hauler that had been converted into a museum.

Unfortunately, it turns out that the 2 boats we had yet to tour had closed the lines an hour early, and we were unable to board them. We could only forlornly look on from a distance.

After wandering for a bit more, we decided to go grab food from the bar in the park next door. I had some crab rangoon empanatas, which were very tasty. I didn't take any pictures though.
Jackson and I spent the rest of the daylight hiding in the shade, talking about game stuff, like why League of Legends players always sound like drug addicts, and various ways games can be balanced.
I also happened to get some pictures of the tall ships doing tall ship things

It got a bit chilly, so I stole Jackson's hoodie. We found a spot in the park from which to watch the fireworks, which I incorrectly assumed would be launched from somewhere out in the bay. it turns out they were launched from the opposite side of the tall ships park, but we could still see them mostly.

After getting home, my skin was feeling decidedly spicy
