In preparation for our camping trip in September, Wally, Jackson and I went to REI co-op so Wally could buy a tent. They are having a Labor day sale, so I figured now is a good time to get some spicy deals on expensive equipment.

I also figured I could get a slightly better sleeping mat, since the one I have was not quote big enough for me.

Near the entrance, there was a really nice looking future couch looking camp cot, which would be way better than just an inflatable mat. After trying it, I was sold, especially since it was actually cheaper than some of the other mat's we had looked at.

The main question was if it would actually fit in my tent.

Wally ended up being just fine, since he ended up buying the giant 4 person tent (that the future couch would fit in just fine) which was on sale for an incredibly reasonable $150, which was cheaper than most of the 2 person tents we had looked at.

After asking some employees, the consensus was that while it would technically fit, there would not be much space to move around, and it wasn't recommended.

I ultimately decided to just set up a tent of similar size in the store, and try putting the cot inside.

Great Success!

It's true it was a tight fit, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for comfort.

On a side note, Jackson pointed out that during our discussion, the employees had also started calling it the future couch as a result of our influence, which was hilarious

Jackson had to leave to meet up with family for dinner. After he left, Wally and I completed our purchased and headed back to the car to stow everything.

Unfortunately, we had not considered if the giant box the future cot came in would fit in Wally's car.

We ultimately had to remove the cots from the box to get them to fit, and took the empty boxes back into REI, where they said they would recycle them.

We got dinner at a nearby Shake Shack, where Wally was at the mercy of their incredibly spicy cajun fries, after which we made our way back home with our camping related spoils.

When I got home, I set up the future couch for a comfort test, along with my sleeping bag and some pillows.

10/10 very comfy

I also added a new anime figure to my small collection.

One of Wally's friends, from whom I had previously purchased my ultrawide monitor, had decided to sell some of his anime figures, and so I purchased a Nadeshiko figure, to serve as a friend for my Rin figure.

I got the figure from Wally when we met up for REI.
