Jackson and I got up early to pick up the rental Kia Soul EV. We took the bus into town, since I now have the app set up and know how the process works.

We had to transfer to a different bus, and were a bit confused since we couldn't find the bus stop, but we figured it out and were on our way.

After a somewhat hectic drive through the city, we got back to the guest house and loaded up all of our earthly belongings. After a bit of inventory Tetris, we managed to get it all to fit, but with not much room to spare.

We stopped at a local mall to grab some snacks and maybe some medicine for Wally's feet.

The mall had some weird decorations, which reminded us of the bug enemies from Hollow Knight

We left Reykjavík behind and set out towards Vik, with several planned stops along the way around then golden circle.

Our first stop was a random viewing area on the side of the road, with an overlook of a big lake. We stopped to eat the lunch we got at the mall.

Next up is Öxarárfoss, which is a waterfall that flows over a big cliff that was created by the expansion along the continental divide.

Behold, cliff!
Not very impressed with Iceland

We stopped at a possible charging point, but it was occupied so we decided to continue on to Strokkur Geyser.

We were able to find the charging station, however initially I was unable to log in to the app to start the charging. It seems I had initially set up my account as a "temporary" account, and no longer existed, so I had to set up the account again.

I was able to get it working, and we proceeded to the Geyser.

After witnessing the Geyser doing Geyser things, and becoming extremely damp, we headed for the visitor center to use the bathroom and have a snack.

Jackson got a Skyr cheesecake, and I had a raspberry yogurt cake.

After our tour of the area, the car was now fully charged once again, so we set off once again.

Our next destination was the Secret Lagoon, for a relaxing hot spring swim. There was a funny sign, where the mascots were definitly keeping some secrets of their own.

There were also some cool artifacts, including one that was made in ohio!

After having a nice long swim, we began making our way to Vik. At this point, it was getting dark and had started to rain so it was time to just hunker down and drive.

As we arrived at the Volcano hotel in Vik, the rain had turned into a gale,  but we were glad to find this hotel was much nicer then the last.

After getting our stuff inside, we realized that we had not accounted for dinner, so Jackson volunteered to brave the storm behind the wheel, and we drove into Vik to get some food.

At the restaurant we went to, the walls were covered with pictures depicting the locals as bug people. This let to a running joke about some kind of horror movie conspiracy.

This led to a running joke about the locals all being bug people. It certainly didn't help that a large number of the staff (including our server) were also international travelers.

After eating, we made our way back to the hotel and went to sleep.
